Hi,
I have a load of JAMMA boards that are fooked, and I want to try re-programming the chips.
Also I wouldn't mind burning a new Bios for the Naomi & I need another Universe Bios for my 2nd 6-slot.
Any ideas on a suitable programmer?
I've seen this one
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VP28B-48Pin-Unive ... dZViewItem
which looks like it will be suitable (will be doing mostly 27C & 24C eproms) and with 48 pins, should handle pretty much anything.
Has anybody got any ideas about these things?
HELP!!!!
John
EPROM Programmer
You'll need a good eprom if you want to-do the 42pin m27c160 that Naomi bios chips uses.
Also you'll be hard pressed to find that size chip on Jamma boards. They are quite an expensive eprom to buy, compared to the smaller ones.
I'd recommend a needhams if you can afford it. Many of the USB ones are good for big eproms, but not so good for proms and older eproms.

So is the one on my previous post worth getting or not?
I don't want to fork out a helluva lot of cash for something I may not use much.
As I said, it will be mainly for the 24C & 27C Eproms on my Jamma boards, which is the priority.
Also,
The main reason for this purchase, is that some boards I have have the "ID sticker" removed, and so exposing the chip to natural UV light. How long would the eproms have to stand around in normal light to be erased. (I don't know how old the boards are, hence the need to re-burn)
Cheers

Hmm, they are also selling a top 2048 eprom burner.
Well I know loads of people who have had problems with those, and its a similar price.
So while it might do the job, just be careful it doesn't stop working. They have pretty bad build quality I would imagine.
I'd spend a bit more and get on of the superpro's on offer, and also email them about warranty and stuff.

Cheers for all the help, but I am still nowhere near a choice.
I have seen the Willams, but the very low cost put me off.
I have found one of the superpros
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUPERPRO-280U-Uni ... dZViewItem
which I am happy to pay.
Now, should I go for USB, or Parallel???
As I mentioned, main use will be Eproms for old JAMMA, but would like the ability to future-proof myself & also burn Naomi & Neo Bios.
Cheers
