Im in the process of consolizing my naomi unit. I didnt like the idea of having an external PS so I used the dreamcast power supply instead. I have trimmed some plastic inside the case to make it fit. I suck with a dremel so its a little off but snug till I can find another way of securing it.
My question is do u guys think this is a suitable PS. It turns on and I get the opening naomi intro, loading mvc2 then the I/O error not present. I havet hacked my I/O board yet. Im afraid of this PS screwing up my naomi thats all. So far so good tho. Im getting excited that this is almost finished......................

I would think it should work fine powering the main board. I doubt it would have enough amps to also drive a GDROM.
You could use a small psu, like an MATX or SFF type. The MATX I have is quite small and you can get one that does 300 watts. :smt112
SFF types are made thin to fit into narrow spaces and can be 200 watts. After finding the type that would best fit in your rig, all you would need is re-work the connections with an adapter or something homemade.

I use a shuttle PSU in my Naomi setup on my MiniCute - other than that its the official PSU all the way

if its freezing its probably due to low voltage and as you cant alter the voltage on a DC PSU thats probably why itonly gets so far.

Well if I have to use an external supply I will. I wanted my naomi in the living room to show of when my friends come over so they dont think Ive been lying about my naomi edition of marvel.
Is it neccesary to hook up both 5v and 3.3v. From looking on the filterboard. I guess that what its called. The board where u hook the the power connectors and the audio, usb etc I think that both connections are connected(traced). Ima try different gauge wire. Im sure Im using 18gauge but I want to try bigger before I abandon the DC supply since it fits in there pretty good.
Do u think the wire being too small would be dropping the voltage.On my DC PS I have 1 12v wire to the naomi,2 5v wires to the naomi and 2 3.3v wires to the naomi. Also would it hurt to run one wire each and when it gets to the naomi, jump it over to the next point.
i wired up a DC pad to the maple pinout and it didnt work. I have a asian version of mvc2 so I thought it would. When I plug it in the VMU gets power then goes blank. The VMU option is only available in the japan bios correct. How can I tell wich bios I have? i already have a stand setup for DC so I was hoping it would work and I dont have to make other connectors Im just being lazy :smt018 I should wire it up properly tho. I figured 10 wires compared to 28 wires plus DB connectors as well.
