Post by OldFoo »

Hi,

I have a problem with my Naomi1. He dont detect my game (error 1). When i make a RAM TEST in the TEST MENU, the IC29 appear to be BAD.

Have you some idea to resolve my problem?

Thanks!

IC29 sounds like a Korean Memory IC, they normally get shafted.

Man, that sucks. IC29 is a section of RAM on the Naomi mobo. Ken is great! He's fast, efficient and has good prices. I'd love to learn what he knows! :smt110

Ken answer:

"Don't change IC29. It's not bad. Your back up RAM cap leaked and corroded traces and eyelets open. If you don't have a microscope, it will be nearly impossible to repair. I can repair it for $75 + shipping provided this is all thats wrong. Normall this is all thats wrong"

And it's right i see some strange things on the IC29.

Thank you very much!

Naomi 1's are NOT worth fixing IMO, cheaper to buy a replacement from eBay.

Second that. Especially if it's $75 + shipping (no offense, aslasha, commendable nonetheless that you're able to) :)

I have a motherboard that is randomly freezing I went into the test menu and it came up with IC29 bad before freezing again argh. After reading this thread I checked the cap and it is the exact same problem.

I have removed the leaky cap and can see that the trace that went to the gnd pin of the cap is broken. I've just bought a replacement cap from maplin (N99CN - ?1.45) which I will stick in there and add a wire for the gnd pin, I'll let you all know how I get on and if it fixes the problem. ;)
