I need some advice please

Post by OldFoo »

I have brought a sega model 3 cabinet that is currently running Virtua striker version 2000.

I really would like to play virtua tennis but I see that I need to have a Noami pcb and game.

I have seen a white noami board and virtua tennis cartridge and wondered if I buy this how easy will it be for me to install it in my model 3 cab.

Will i need to buy anything else to make it work and will it be plug and play into the sockets that go into my model 3 board.

If anyone can help me id be gratefull as i dont want to waste my money on buying it for it not to work.

thanks

Yes it is ive looked inside the cabinet and i cant see a noami pcb inside. just big green boards and one that says virtua striker 2 ver 2000.

It does come up noami when the game starts but i cant see the white noami pcb that ive seen pictures of on here.

stange thing is ive checked a few sites and they only list virtua striker 2 version 99 on a mode 3.

Sega Model 3 games are different from Naomi games, so you cannot use the Naomi games on that system.

Easy way to spot, some early Naomi systems where in a cage, instead of the White ABS Plastic we know and love.

You can tell if it is Model 3 or Naomi, by the USB port on the filter board on the cage.

You can still use Naomi 1 carts on there, just remove lid, take old rom board, replace with new rom board, not ideal though, as there is lot of screws to undo.
