Virtua Golf CP problems

Post by OldFoo »

I bought a Virtua Golf with a control panel with american connectors. I made a new 3x4 connector for it to plug into my Universal, though I was not sure of the order of the wires. Because I was not sure which way the previous connector was supposed to be, didn't know if a specific wire was supposed to be

this

XOOO

OOOO

OOOO

or this

OOOO

OOOO

OOOX

Well, I tried to connect them all both ways, but the response was always this:

What's the deal here? Is there something broken in the CP itself, or is the order of the wires just wrong?

should be 2 nodes on the I/O chain, as you have to daisy chain the I/O's

I/O 1 should be the normal Naomi I/O , I/O 2 should be the Optical I/O

Not exactly sure what you mean, you're referring to the NODE No. 0, and it's zero values? Does that node refer to a part on the CP, the trackball I/O?

What to do, what's "daisy chaining"?

Basically you need both I/O's hooked up at the same time.

You need to run a USB Type A/B cable from your existing I/O to the Trackball I/O

Ok, thanks for that. Pretty obvious now that you say it. :smt009

But, sigh... Nothing ever works like it should...

I bought the proper USB cable and connected it to my I/O (dedicated JVS) and to the CP. Now instead of the previous message it says:

I/O BD IS NOT CONNECTED TO NAOMI BD.

Why would it say that, when the I/O certainly is connected? I've changed nothing except added the USB from the VG CP to it. But when it's connected, the I/O doesn't respond at all, the test button doesn't work. If I remove the VG CP USB, it's back to normal.

The other I/O is getting +5v?? does it have the red lights on??

Try the reverse, put the USB lead from the Naomi to the V-Golf I/O and then from the VGolf I/O to the Main I/O.

Ummm... How would this work? There's one USB-socket in the Naomi and one in the VG CP, if I connect these up, I can't connect anything to the main I/O anymore?

The voltages should be fine, when I was troubleshooting another thing, measured it and the +5V is there. And yeah, the two red lights on the main I/O are on.

Download the manual and compare wiring.

Thanks.

But the USB's indeed are connected correctly... And yet after I add the Golf I/O to the chain, the main I/O goes offline. :smt017

But could the wrong pinout (explained in my first post) be causing problems here? Like I said, I just transferred the wires from the american connector in the same order to the european connector. I have no idea what their order should be, though I do see which one is Ground. And when I look at these pictures, the Ground is NOT on the place it's supposed to be:

So, the american pinout is different. Anyone have the european pinout? Or maybe someone with a CP could take a look where each wire is going from which buttons?

Sigh... :smt009
